Evaluation The clearly stated vision and values of board and staff permeate every part of the school day. The values of ‘EPS’ (excellence, pride and spirit) provide an inclusive ethos in the school and are shared by teachers, students and parents. Students’ learning and social behaviour is conducive to high quality participation in the learning process. Students are engaged and focused on their activities. They are aware of, and practice, teachers’ high expectations for learning. Students and teachers are mutually respectful with warm positive relationships evident in classrooms. Students learn in stimulating environments where student work is valued and celebrated. Teachers use a range of strategies, including the development of inquiry and problem solving skills, to promote student interest and achievement. They implement group work, independent activities as well as high quality class teaching. Teacher aides support students, where appropriate, and those identified with special needs receive extra assistance with their learning.A wide range of achievement information forms the basis for focused planning and teaching. Bookwork is presented with pride and reflects teachers’ high expectations for achievement. High quality student sample books are motivational and enable students to share their progress with parents. Student achievement in the essential skills relates closely to management’s expectations as outlined in the school’s learning goals. [ full ERO report... ] |
